HOW DO I TREAT OVERACTIVE BLADDER?

Overactive bladder is a highly treatable condition but it does require assistance from a doctorii.

BEHAVIOURAL THERAPIES

Making adjustments in your daily life can improve your overactive bladder condition. It can be as simple as making changes to your drinking habits. For example, cutting out drinks that may cause bladder irritation such as caffeinated drinks, carbonated drinks, alcohol or beverages containing artificial sweeteners.

Bladder training can help you regain control of OAB by suppressing its contractions. Instead of rushing to the restroom when you get a strong desire to pass urine, you can attempt to hold it in. It helps to distract yourself when doing this, for example, by crossing your legs or sitting on a rolled-up towel. This can gradually increase the capacity of your bladder.

This method requires time and the patient’s full commitment as it can take up to three months to see any improvement.
